Vista Basic Interface

Filed under: Windows VISTA — Ramajay @ 6:48 pm

Vista also includes a Basic GUI which while improved, does not have all the fancy bells and whistles of the Aero version.

You can access the different interface versions in Vista by following these steps:

1) Go to the Personalisation section of the Control Panel

2) Click on Window Color and Appearance.
If you are currently using the Aero Interface you will be able to alter the color of the window borders using the comprehensive color palette controls found on this screen:

3) Click on “Open Classic Appearance properties for more color options”.

Now, on this screen you can pick from any of several interface options ranging from Aero Basic, to Windows Standard, Windows XP and other High Contrast options.

If you click on Effects you can set your Cleartype settings and shadow effects.
Cleartype vastly improves readability on an LCD monitor and should be enabled by default if you are using such a monitor.
