Nvidia- 97.46 WHQL Forceware Drivers, with issues.

Filed under: Nvidia — Ramajay @ 7:41 am

Hello folks. Nvidia has released a new batch of drivers, these have the WHQL certification attached and appear on the official Nvidia website. However, there have been reports of installation problems with the US versions of the drivers. We too had these issues, where the drivers threw an incompatibility error and pointed us to an Age Of Empires II game update to fix the problem. Considering we don’t even have Age of Empires installed on our system we can safely say that these US drivers are borked for quite a lot of folks.

The solution though is to download the English UK International drivers and install those instead. After we stop sulking at the poor installation experience, we’ll test theseĀ out on a few games.

Update: Well, wonder of wonders. These look just like the previous beta drivers. There is still no SLI support for Nvidia graphics cards under Vista. Considering that Nvidia would have had access to Vista well before the general public, I think we may be looking at a serious issue with SLI within the new Vista ‘trusted computing’ driver framework. The drivers do support the full range of color calibration options, including digital vibrance. It also supports multiple display configurations.

Performance is unimpressive, with these drivers scoring lower in 3DMark2006 than the ones that were included with Vista. However, there appears to be no artifacting or any weirdness at all with image quality thus far.
